Stories From Our Stylists

Our customers are the beating heart of Nordstrom Trunk Club, and we can’t say “thank you” enough times for letting us be a part of your personal and professional journeys. That might mean getting you dressed for a big moment, or simply helping you troubleshoot a style challenge. No matter what you’re here for, we’re always here for you. In the spirit of appreciation, we wanted to share a few of our favorite style success stories. Here’s to creating one of your own!


Prepping to pop the question

With a very big night ahead of him, Kim brought his soon-to-be fiancée, Latha, in for a Clubhouse appointment. Since the appointment was a surprise, Kim had to do a little detective work to find out Latha’s sizes, and sent some pictures so I could get an idea about her body type. The day of the appointment, I brought Latha some of her favorite champagne and an entire rack of clothing to try on before her and Kim’s special dinner. We all had so much fun watching Latha trying on tons of gorgeous outfits before she settled on a winner: a stunning Robert Rodriguez dress and Valentino heels. The reservation was made, the ensemble was selected, and all that was left was the proposal. And... she said “yes!” The next day, I received a picture of Latha wearing the ring and a heartfelt “thank you” for being a part of their evening. I love being able to be part of special life moments.

You’ve got a friend in me

In my experience, the more time a customer spends working with a stylist, the more they get out of it. I’ve been working with Sarah for quite awhile, long enough that we’ve truly developed a genuine friendship. We’ve seen each other through weight fluctuations, family challenges, and all the confidence and personal struggles that come with. But since Sarah knows she’s found a confidant in me, she trusts that I have her best interests (and closet) at heart. It’s allowed me to really understand what she needs from me as a stylist.


Managing symptoms, not expectations

In personal styling there’s a lot of problem solving. In this case, my customer needed a wardrobe to accommodate their health. They were having stomach issues, so I knew I needed to send pieces that were roomy, stretchy, and extremely comfortable. I’m so happy that they felt they could open up to me about their personal life. After receiving the first Trunk, they were so relieved that they’ve been reaching out to me for everything else since. Sometimes, it’s just to say “hi” with a pic in a comfy outfit from their latest Trunk.

A wedding suit for a football fan

Andrew needed a suit for his wedding—and he wanted it to be specific—so we went with something custom. He had been teasing his bride about getting an all-brown suit to pay homage to his favorite Cleveland team, but to be safe, he went with blue—with one small modification. In brown felt and orange embroidery, Andrew had “Go Browns” stitched under his collar so he could flip it up and show it off at the reception. During his final fitting, when he put the suit on, he just stood there and was like, “Oh, this is sick.”’ I was so happy to see that his dream wedding suit fit perfectly.
