What to Wear to All Those Wedding Events
Trunk Club

First comes the save the date. Then, an ornately designed engagement party invitation arrives in the mail. Followed by a bachelor party e-invite. Throw in a couples shower here, a rehearsal dinner there, and your weekends are suddenly packed. Weddings, man. With no shortage of things to celebrate (and all with different dress codes), we’ve pulled together a style itinerary to help you map out your wedding season wardrobe.

Let’s get started:

Bachelor party

If the bachelor is a laid-back guy, it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s cool to dress casual. Take your cue from the night’s agenda—dark denim and fresh sneakers are fine for brewery tours and bars. But we’re here to party, so step it up a notch from your average button-down with a floral-pattern shirt and a leather jacket.

The night before:

Rehearsal dinner

These days, the rehearsal dinner can be almost as big of an event as the actual wedding. Cocktails, dinner, speeches… it’s a mini-wedding. So look sharp, but don’t feel obligated to wear a suit. A dress shirt, sport coat, and wool trousers are a great base, then seize the opportunity to accessorize. A silk pocket square that complements the colors in your tie—without precisely matching—is a pro move. This look works just as well for a rehearsal dinner as it does an engagement party, so feel free to repurpose.

The next morning:

Post-wedding brunch

The wedding is over, but we’re not done here yet. Before everyone jets back to their regularly scheduled lives, the bride and groom might squeeze in one last hurrah. The day-after brunch is usually (thankfully) a casual affair, but don’t be the guy in jeans and a T-shirt. A dress shirt in a classic pattern, tucked into a pair of chinos, is perfect. Slip on some loafers, and throw on a pair of shades if you’re still hurting from the night before. If you have any couple’s showers coming up on your calendar, this outfit will work for that, too.

Now that you’ve successfully navigated through a full season of wedding activities, all that’s left is… the wedding. Right. Of course, we’ve got you covered on what to wear to the main event, too.

At Trunk Club, our stylists help people build their best wardrobes by discovering what fits their body, their budget, and their personal style.
